51 victims, thousands injured and thousands more left without a roof. This was the tragic balance that left behind the November 26 earthquake. But, in those difficult and painful days, the greatest solidarity among the people appeared. Numerous aids have arrived at the Solidarity Center near “Fundjavë Ndryshe”, which have been distributed in the first days after the earthquake hit the country.
The foundation offered its immediate help with shelter, food, water, or material such as blankets and mattresses. The call for help made by “Fundjavë Ndryshe” was joined by many citizens, businesses abroad and inside the country. One of them was the big world company, Amazon, which in cooperation with “Fundjavë Ndryshe” sent 5 trucks with beds, tents, blankets, etc.
Throughout this time, dozens of houses were donated by “Fundjavë Ndryshe” to families who were left without a roof over their heads from the earthquake.
At the same time, work has begun in Vaqarr, where other apartments will be built, which will also be donated to those affected. Engineer Nusret Nela says that the homes that will be donated to the residents affected by the earthquake meet all safety standards.
“The system that has been chosen from the engineering side meets all the standards for the facility to be safe even for the seismic part. The design phase is done in advance with the drilling and geological study of the whole area. Later, based on this study, the construction project was made.”.
While the works are progressing at a very high pace, it is expected that the first houses will be completed very soon. In addition to houses, “Fundjavë Ndryshe” also plans on building a new school and a health center. In order to meet the best living conditions for each family, in what is conceived as a new neighborhood.
