It has been 11 months since the death of Elona Kuburja, the 13-year-old who touched the hearts of all Albanians. The young girl was suffering from a serious illness, affected from birth. In August last year, the “Fundjavë Ndryshe” foundation called for help so that Elona could be treated abroad. In record time she was sent to Turkey. But despite the efforts of the medical staff, Elona could not overcome the disease.
Even though she was fighting for her life, Elona was a girl full of desires. This is how the CEO of “Fundjavë Ndryshe”, Arbër Hajdari, remembers her.
“… The day when I went into intensive care, I was trying to give the girl some hope. I asked her what her wishes were.
She replied: I really want to have a room, as our house is ruined! Without hesitation, I promised Elona that we would do our best to make her wish come true!”

The economic conditions of the Kuburja family made it even more difficult for them to afford the treatment for their daughter. For this reason, even the parents had put everything on sale, even the old house.
Apart from the strong pain of Elona’s absence, they faced another concern. The November 26 earthquake destroyed their home, leaving both parents and 3 little girls without a roof.
But now this nightmare is over. Through a post on social networks, Hajdari said that the promise made to Elona was fulfilled. The Kuburja family was provided with a new home, and the foundation will continue to support them.
