Isolated and in need, the Xhika family lives in miserable conditions!

The Xhika family lives in Hondisht, a remote village more than two hours away from Pogradec. Due to the distance and isolation for months, the village has been abandoned and today only 5 families live there. The family is in very difficult economic conditions, the house is destroyed and they do not even have a place to sleep.

“It is very hard to survive, the children get sick all the time as the roof leaks. I do not know where to shelter them, they don’t even have a bed to sleep in. Here is impossible to find a job and our only income is the small assistance we get. We have lot’s of debt also, as we needed it for food. I don’t know how we are going to pay it,” says Anisa the mother of three kids.

The place where the family is sheltered belongs to a relative, while the only property of the family is a dozen acres of land, but even that cannot be worked.  Previously, the head of the family emigrated to Greece and Macedonia, but due to the pandemic, he could not leave the country.

The health center is more than two hours away, while electricity runs at most two hours a day. They live in inhuman conditions, while the children do not even have clothes to change.

Arthur’s parents are in poor health, his father has lost a leg and his mother suffers from epilepsy. All they need is a place that can provide them with the minimum conditions, a bed, a table, and some food. Life has become unbearable for this family. But together we can save them!
