Heavy rains during the first weeks of January caused massive damage in some areas in Albania. The most critical situation appeared in Lezha, Shkodra, and Laç, where the biggest floods were recorded.
Thousands of acres of land were underwater, blocked roads, and isolated villages that could only be accessed by watercraft or military trucks. Hundreds of families were in urgent need of help. “Fundjavë Ndryshe” traveled to some of the villages where the situation was more critical.
“In the region of Lezha and Shkodra, about 500 food packages, flour, water, blankets, clothes have been distributed. We focused on what was necessary for the families affected by the floods, “said during the program Historia e Fundjavës, the coordinator of the foundation, Orgest Beti.
The CEO of the foundation, Arbër Hajdari, called for help from various businesses to provide food for the livestock of the affected families. Because, among other things, the floods brought the destruction of many agricultural lands.
“I want to make a call to all businesses that have the opportunity to provide food for the animals. As already almost all areas are flooded, the families do not have the opportunity to find food in order to keep their livestock.”
“Fundjavë Ndryshe” continues to be close to families sending various aid. A special fund has also been set up to help all families affected by the floods.
